How are moss, algae and roof debris removed?
Clear loose leaves and needles, then address growth using the shingle manufacturer’s approved process. Moss growth and algae discoloration are different conditions, so the scope should identify which is being treated and protect surrounding landscaping and runoff paths.
Can asphalt shingles be pressure washed?
No. ARMA warns that high-pressure cleaning can damage asphalt roofing. Use a manufacturer-compatible cleaning process that protects the granules and layered covering; aggressive scrubbing is not a substitute for a roof-specific method.
Does cleaning include gutter and downspout work?
Roof-surface cleaning and gutter cleaning are separate tasks. If both are needed, list the roof areas, gutters and downspouts so debris removal and water flow can be reviewed together.
How should the result be checked?
Review the treated area and confirm the agreed debris has been removed from the roof and collection points. Any damaged covering, loose flashing or drainage problem found during the work belongs in a separate repair scope.
